so... i've been doing some research and others seem to be having the same issue, but I wanted to ask the good ppl here to see what your exp has been with artifacts... what i mean is your comp starts to display artifacts on your screen, usually indicative of overheating....

i feel like my comp has more than enough juice to handle d3... i turned down almost everything but after about an hour i still see artifacts... i bought thermal paste and plan to repaste my cpu and gpu just for good measure, but i wanted to see if others were having a similar issue with their machines...

i can try to take a screenshot, but its pretty quick and random

heres a quick snapshot of my specs:
2.3ghz i7
8gb ddr3
gtx 660m (2g gddr5)
128gb ssd
750gb hdd

All I can think of it to track your cpu and gpu temps while playing and seeing f they are spiking or not. Also check that you're running the latest released video drivers (you might even consider the latest beta drivers as a check). Are you doing any overclocking with your setup?

I have had a flash or two in the past week while playing as well. doesn't do it in the 1st person shooters i play so it appears to be diablo or that and the newer Geforce driver as i updated mine about a week or so ago.

the temps are pretty low actually... gpu doesn't get higher than 75c and the CPU don't go over 80c

maybe i should go back to older drivers... nvidia drivers aren't always the best

ugh.. thanks for the input

All I can say on this is that I lost a pretty fancy laptop playing WOW a year or 2 ago.
And this started with artifacts, which I just ignored.
And now the pc can't stay on for any given time, and as soon as anything that uses 3d acceleration starts up the pc freezes.

So don't ignore the problem and hope it will go away. :)

yikes... definitely don't plan on ignoring it... i think i might downgrade my drivers first... i think the stock ones were better actually
