Hi, this is the first time i've joined a forum for a game and i decided to try d3rmt (one of the few that's not blocked at work!), so go easy on me..
Anyways, I had a general question regarding the process of obtaining hellfire ring(s). So here goes - assuming you are MP10 (100% chance of keys/items to drop), does it take 4 runs (act 1 through 4) to get the 3 keys + plan to craft one infernal machine? For each additional infernal machine, do you only need to do 3 runs (act 1 through 3) to find another set of keys? So, at the minimum (i believe the ubers spawn randomly), do you need three infernal machines at mp10 to get all the pieces from the Ubers? In total, that's 4+3+3 runs for the 3 infernal machines + 3 uber boss fights? If so, that seems like a lot of work - if i have an inferno machine, can i invite people without the plans/keys to join and vice versa to speed up the process? thanks in advance |

that is what it takes to get all the parts needed to craft the ring. I have made two and both have been crap.

This is true ONLY IF you use all three machines in the SAME game. Otherwise, the uber portals will spawn randomly, as you mentioned. You can also cut the number of runs down by teaming up with other players. I usually "farm" ubers in a party of 3 or 4 and each person uses their machine-so really, the number of complete runs is a function of how many machines I bring. Oh, and welcome to the forums! |

@eleganthobo You are correct in your estimate of the minimum amount of runs, but this is very likely not the most efficient use of your time. Most people that can handle MP10 would be able to farm 2 runs at MP7-8 in a shorter timeframe. You also shouldn't count on just getting a single ring as there are 4 random properties. Most people are going to want to farm the ring multiple times to get rolls they're happy with.

Yes, but only those in the party with 5 stacks of NV have a chance to obtain organs from the ubers (at MP10, this is obviously a 100% chance). The caveat is that the ubers will not necessarily drop the organ that you need to complete your ring. For example, all three uber fights may yield you 3 eyes. |

Oh wow, thanks guys. @Khan, this is news to me - I thought each Uber can only drop one type of Organ (similar to each key warden dropping one specific key). Good to know, I think I'll want to post on the "looking for groups" thread once i get the mats for the infernal machine.

The problem here is that no one can fight the ubers on MP 10. If you fight the ubers on MP 3, there's only a 30% chance for a drop. Logically, you want to do three portals at once (you don't want to repeat a boss), but on average, at 30% chance, only 1 boss will drop an organ. This means that you really have to do 3 runs of 3 portals to get all the organs. On top of that, the new run may mean that you get a repeat organ. This is the real problem: without a chance for a guaranteed organ drop on top of the already random nature of the portals, it really forces you to do these in groups to share portals. You'll only be using 1 machine for every run instead of 3, which is certainly more reasonable.
One question I did have: when you run the 3 portals in groups, can the ubers drop multiple organs? By multiple, I mean each person in the group gets one. Are the rolls calculated individually? So one person may get an organ drop, but someone else may not? This would make grouping almost imperative for these infernal boss fights. |

Yes. Loot is calculated on an individual basis. I have done portal runs where a party member gets all 3 organs and another gets zero organs. There appears to be no dependency between organ drops. |

Happens to me a lot. Same with key hunting. |
