I find Fire Walkers to be indispensable...or my laziness to be unconquerable--whichever.
The thing is, if you're loot farming, it gives you a certain extra percentage of loot drops just by virtue of running by barrels and so forth. If you're XP farming, it also gives you a small XP boost when you run past destructibles. For either style of play, you save tiny amount of effort/time because you don't have to smash open doors, you just run straight through them. I swear, I would keep them just for that. But a few minutes ago, I ran past a lone barrel (which I never would have messed with otherwise) from which popped a skeleton, who dropped this... |

the best.
is this with max mf? and the reason most people don't use it is the dps drop; at least, that's why I don't use them. |

I'd rather keep my current boots and take the extra split second to fire a shot at nearby destructibles.
Plus with my WD I can just use Spirit Barrage with the Manitou rune and it'll automatically fire at barrels and stuff while I go by, no need to change gear. |

I don't think I can realistically use SunKeeper (or any 1H) so my MF isn't max, it's around 250% with follower. I think it's 450+% on MP 3 with full NV.
[Lost some MF from crafting the new 1.07 armor pieces. +100 STR for -5% MF was an easy trade-off.] I've never seen 2 legendaries drop before, let alone off a trash mob. I'm lucky to get 1 legendary an hour of solid grinding. Not one good one, just one. #tsukiyomi I know some classes have constant PBAOE's and such, but not everyone does. The boots don't hurt my damage at all. The boots have 200 STR and the 4% melee reduction is nice for a Barb. I don't have a DPS build, I just have a maximum damage build. I don't care about Crit or IAS, so that makes it a lot easier to find gear. Edit: I could probably use SunKeeper and run MP 1, but I like running MP 3. Maybe I'll try to find one. I don't play all that much or, rather, not as much as I'd like. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Ariel-1131/hero/26205026 |

Welcome to D3RMT, @jcalton! :) "I don't think I can realistically use SunKeeper (or any 1H)..."--is this because the damage decrease would be too large, or you need the Life steal on your current weapon to survive, or what? I wouldn't think it would be because of the cost--there are decent socketed Sun Keepers on the AH for around 100,000 gold. Granted, if you want the DPS to be over 1k, then yes, it'll start to get into the millions.. but I would think with a socketed emerald, your DPS drop from your current 2-H weapon wouldn't be too much. As for surviving w/o the LS, the fact that you would be using a 1-H weapon means you could throw on a shield, perhaps w/ additional crit chance, high block rate, & even more magic find. btw, you can link your account here directly to your Battle.net profile to make things easier for everyone (as opposed to throwing "http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Ariel-1131/hero/26205026" at the end of your posts). :) |

I've been seriously considering getting a good pair of Fire Walkers just so I don't have to stop and Spectral Blade through doors in Keep Depths 2. I know I'd take a huge dip in DPS but man, being able to shave off some time of my runs because of not needing to open doors is very appealing.
That or Blizzard could make Storm Armor be able to break doors down. |

I use Echoing Fury + Sunkeeper on my monk. And I'm 130K+ unbuffed DPS, so it shouldn't hold you back.
I have fire walkers on my HC monk, but not my SC one. It is fun just running past things and seeing them explode though. :) |

My sc has a nice dps pair of fire walker. They are not that bad of a choice for movement speed.

^ This. I should have mentioned I play almost exclusively Act 3, the Keep [which is loaded with doors]...so I'm right there with ya. I get 5 stacks and explore the Keep pretty well, then kill Ghom. Depending on time, I might play through to the next Quest boss (whoever comes before Azmodan--at the end of the bridge.) Very very rarely I play through to Azmodan or Diablo. This build is iffy against Azmodan. On MP 4 I will die. On MP 3 I can kill him as long as I don't make any mistakes; otherwise, I usually die once. I use Tyrael's Might for the demons, so the only thing that makes me pause is undead. As it turns out, I appear to be maxed out on MF, so all this is moot. But I went ahead and bought a Sunkeeper (with 7% Elite damage and around 950 DPS) anyway, just to try it out. It's a LOT less damage for this build, but it plays MP 0 fine and works on MP 1. Losing >3% Lifesteal isn't great, but at those levels, it seems okay, so far, although I haven't tried it against serious quest bosses. And theoretically, having 45+% extra MF means I could drop MF to get STR elsewhere on items. I say theoretically because I don't have the money to re-gear. @Bort The way my Barb is built is not DPS-based. I don't want high attack speed, I just want the maximum possible damage, I don't care how slow it is. My two main abilities do 900% weapon damage (AoE, spammable) and 2000% AoE weapon damage (for packs every 105 seconds). On MP 0 I have to make an effort to swing my weapon, to generate Fury because I'm killing things too fast to regen the Fury naturally. It sounds crazy, but it's really annoying to play MP 0 with this build. MP 1 is as fast as MP 0, and MP 2 is the sweet spot. I like MP 3 because it only takes maybe 15% longer but the loot is better and the challenge is there to keep me from getting bored. Packs drop a minimum of 3 yellows and quest bosses drop min 5. Thanks for all the replies! |

@eastdragon42
I tried to do the profile thing but it didn't work. I just realized I'd simply copied my account from the URL which uses a dash instead of a hash before the number. It works now, thanks. As an aside, for a long time I wanted but couldn't afford a Skorn. Since I'm a DoT barb anyway, the Bleed seemed like it would be a nice bonus. One problem is that ~8000 DoT is handy against regular mobs, but is useless against pack bosses. But the main thing is that, sadly, the crit damage % is a wasted slot for me. I'm better off buying a good yellow. |

If you're XP farming, it also gives you a small XP boost when you run past destructibles. I'm pretty sure destructibles give zero XP. Unless you're talking about the combos from them, which are REALLY minimal. As a monk, I pretty much have SW on permanently. So yeah, I don't really need FW at all. For dex heroes, it's kinda hard to justify any boots besides Natalya's unless you're using a HF ring AND a SoJ. In that case, you won't be able to get the CC bonus from Nat's, so there's no need to use Nat's boots. In fact, when I use a HF ring and SoJ, I just use rare boots with dex, vit, AR, and pickup radius. |

I had a pair of fire walkers that I couldn't seem to get rid of so I listed them for 5,000 gold starting bid and no buy out. They sold for 5,000 gold to my only bidder.

I disagree slightly. The 2 piece combo is great IF and only if you can afford a nats ring with CC. I know a lot of people have budget nat rings that often time do not give value inspite of the set bonus. |

I'm also using Fire Walkers, but I didn't realise that incentive. What a good find, two at a time?!
