I was thinking the other day that I have a bunch of crap sitting around that I keep either for sentimental reasons (my last self-found 1H XBow and quiver) or just because they have a cool effect and I want to keep them around. Right now they're taking up stash space.
I would use an additional page of stash space even if it had some pretty onerous restrictions on it. Like anything put there couldn't be removed for 24 hours. Or even anything put there is permanently account bound. This would keep people from hanging onto extra gear simply for flipping. I figure they could use the same warning message they must have set up for Marquise Gems. Would anyone else use a "Waiting Period" Stash page or Account Bound Stash page? |
Long-term or Account Bound storage

I would use an account bound one for sure.
Specially on HC, where I try to store all my levelling gear as I replace them simply because I know I might need them again should I die. And this has proved most useful, as I'm on my 3rd DH at the moment. They could also give you a stash where you had to pay to remove the items again. Gives another gold sync and provides us with long term storage. |

I would use either of them.
Atm it calculates like Full account is 12 characters each of them with separate inventory and the stash with 3 pages for all so total of 15 pages. That's not really big at all :( |

Erm... I only have 10 slots on my account. How come you have 12? |

don't forget you can technically "store" 100 items on the ah :) (gah and rmah)

@h311o: I was about to ask the same thing as @Bort--I only have ten character slots too, not twelve. Was that a typo on your part? Also, the number of spaces in each character slot and the number of spaces in each stash isn't actually equal; character spaces are 6x10, whereas each stash tab is 10x7, so the number of "pages" one has available doesn't really make much sense either.
@ecocd: Having stuff disappear would be extremely painful if you originally had plenty of time to remove your items (say a couple of hours) and then because of some emergency maintenance period on Blizzard's end or perhaps a bad Internet connectivity on your own end (or some combination of both), you ended up missing the deadline & all your stuff just... disappeared. :-0 I think Bort's idea of simply having an additional long-term-storage stash space where you had to pay gold to remove the item might be slightly more reasonable. Or make it like a storage rental fee--the longer you store stuff there &/or the more space you use, the more expensive it gets when you finally remove it? Just brainstorming aloud here...
Kind of forgot about that; though since I'm "blocked" from viewing the RMAH, I guess I only have 50 extra spaces... ;-) |

I'd go for an Account Bound Stash just for storing legendary items which I might use for other characters or for a very specifc build. Man I got to clear up my stash space, too much crap piling up and my stuff on the AH aren't moving fast enough.

I meant that you would "request" a withdrawal of the item. 24 hours later it would move to your stash. You'd never lose the item, you just couldn't use it for flipping items or taking advantage of a momentary spike in value like what happened with Rubies a week ago. You would store leveling gear there until you felt like starting a new hero. i wouldn't support a gold-based storage system, but that's effectively a micro-transaction on a game I've already spent $60 on. Every piece of Gold that either goes to an Account Bound craft or something with no value like a storage fee is money that is worth some value in USD or Euro. |

@ecocd: Ah, ok. hmm.. but then the problem arises when your stash is full, where does it get sent? I guess it could do the same thing as the AH at the moment & simply put you over some limit in "Limbo" But w/ the AH, you cannot sell anything until you get your limit below 50; what would the penalty be for being over the limit w/ this new stash? (Or is the inherent penalty simply that you cannot pick anything else up; but even then, that means this new "Limbo" could be abused to store hundreds & hundreds of items, no?)
I agree that I personally wouldn't really enjoy paying a gold-based storage system if it was some sort of recurring cost, though it would solve Blizzard's problem of providing an additional gold sink and solve many players' problems w/ regard to storage space. That being said, the two additional permanent tabs in ones' stash could technically already be called a "micro-transaction in a game that we've already spend $60 on" that is account bound & could have had some value in USD or Euro in the RMAH, no...? Maybe Blizzard could simply allow players to buy more permanent tabs in their stash, but each one gets geometrically more expensive to purchase...? (Don't want to say exponentially, as that'd get too expensive too quickly for average Joe's like myself...) Don't know. All I know is like @hdvision and @shniggies, I've got waaay too much crap piling up on my eight mule characters & my stuff on the AH isn't moving fast enough... ;-) |

As someone who's now collecting the various set/legendary items for each class, I'm fine with it.

@h311o
NP. I thought that maybe the Deluxe edition (or limited edition or whatever it is called) might have 12 char slots instead of 10. |
