Mehsiah gave me an idea with his My Auction House Journey thread.
Why not make a forum for peoples blogs/goals/journals or what not? It could be a daily notification of things you flipped, a checklist of acheivements you've gained or a tally list for a PvPer. People could make a guide, like on the PvPer, they could maybe explain why they won or lost, what helped, strategies they used. A Flipper could give AH tips or clue in people on why something sold for what it did. Acheivement hunters could give tips on how they gained harder acheivements or what not. And there are other possibilities for them as well. What do you guys think? |

As someone who has regularly posted in a blog on a message board for more than a year, believe me when I say that it is a nice idea which never really pans out.
Blog posts become segregated content from the rest of the message board, which means that there's less views and less responses. Since it's separate from the message board threads, it requires the audience to take extra time to look at the blog post. Eventually, everyone stops bothering to do so. It is very difficult to write something on a regular basis without having lulls in exposition or new content to discuss, so the author ends up either repeating himself constantly or posting with less frequency as the enthusiasm he has in writing content dwindles in tandem with less enthusiasm the audience has for reading new posts. Threads facilitate the purpose of blogs fine enough, particularly here where I don't think anyone will mind if a single person continuously bumps a thread with a blog-like post. |
